This Fiction Friday brings a micro-story told in haiku because experimentation always stretches the writing muscles!
He led on horseback,
Raising his flag to fly high,
To herald the train.
Room for three hundred,
Yet many more loaded on,
In wagons of coal.
They whooped and hollered,
Eager to make history,
“On to Darlington!”
Up over the hill,
And then downward the train sped,
Ten miles per hour.
“Hold onto your hats,
As we race to the future,
Driven by genius.”
Into town they rolled,
To be greeted by thousands,
“Our next stop, Stockton!”
